Nicky Enright
Nicky Enright, a multimedia artist and educator, describes his childhood and teenage years going to school in The Bronx and Manhattan during the AIDS Epidemic. He describes the impact Keith Haring had on him, starting when he met Haring as a 14-year-old to seeing the Silence = Death posters that were put up around New York City to the impact Haring’s death had on Enright. He describes the mystery that surrounded the epidemic, particularly because of the taboo around it, and how, despite not understanding why, media portrayals impacted the narrative around AIDS.
