Daniel Holt
Daniel Holt, a lawyer and teacher, reflects back on his high-school, college, and graduate school years living in the areas around Greenwich Village. From a young age, he knew of gay people, so there was never a stigma for him around others being gay. He talks about how witnessing a family friend's death, who came out as gay in his late 50s, from AIDS impacted him. He recounts his experience with the multitude of activism movements occurring in the late 1980s and how that shaped his views on the epidemic, particularly in terms of the governmental response (or lack thereof).
